Conference on High Performance Computing and Innovation was held at the University

    21 November 2025 | The traditional annual conference dedicated to the use of high-performance computing for science and innovation was held at the UNWE. The event was organized by the Center of Competence in Bulgaria, established within the framework of the European project EuroCC, the goal of which is the creation of a network of 32 centers in the field of high-performance computing and their applications in artificial intelligence and high-performance data analysis. The national center was built by a consortium with the leading organization, the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in partnership with Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the UNWE.

    The conference is organized for the fifth consecutive year and has established its role as a key platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and good practices between the academic community, scientific circles and industry. The forum presented new trends and initiatives in the field of high-performance computing, the portfolio of services and expertise of the Center, innovations in training and interaction with business, as well as achieved results, successful implementations and prospects for future development and cooperation.

    The event was attended by representatives of leading companies, scientists and experts in the field of high-performance computing, high-performance data analysis and artificial intelligence.

    Within the framework of the conference, a round table was also held on the topic “News in HPC technologies and their use in Bulgaria”, in which representatives of large companies from the IT sector actively participated. The discussion was attended by Todor Todorov, Key Account Manager, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Ivan Vulev, Technical Director and Sales Manager, IBM, Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova, lecturer at the Department of Information Technologies and Communications of the UNWE, Nikolay Yordanov, Executive Director of Kontrax JSC, Kalin Dimchev, General Manager for the Adriatic Region, Microsoft. They discussed the strategic guidelines for moving from HPC as infrastructure to HPC as a platform for value creation and which are the sectors that offer the highest return on innovation in the integration of HPC + AI.
