Meetings with Businesses

  • Round Table discussion with industry representatives within the NCC-Bulgaria HPC 2024 Conference, on 15 Nov 2024 at Expo Hotel, Sofia. The experts from IBM focused on the topic of accelerating startups with AI (WatsonX) and Cloud Technology. The representatives of VEM Technology, PayHawk and Risk Electronics shared their experience and presented concrete HPC+ projects realized in Bulgarian companies, commenting also the challenges and opportunities.
  • Thematic workshop with SME representatives, titled “HPC services for SMEs”, on 25 Nov 2024, UNWE. The UNWE representatives presented the EuroCC2 project and the available infrastructure at the UNWE for High-Performance Computing, Big Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence. The program also included representatives of two leading companies – Adastra Bulgaria and Ethermind who presented their views on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in business development and the acquisition and improvement of employees’ skills. The participants in the seminar, representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria, were introduced to the opportunities for cooperation in order to apply HPC+ for solving complex business problems.
  • Collaboration workshop with representatives of STUDIES-DIG project, funded under the Horizon-MSCA Staff Exchange program (Grant Agreement No. 101131544), experts from the Discoverer Petascale Supercomputer team, and UNWE team members, on 22 Nov 2024, UNWE. The topics discussed included the cutting-edge capabilities and operations of the supercomputer; the robust security measures ensuring safe and efficient research; applications in innovation, research, and complex data analytics. They workshop participants were also introduced to the UNWE Centre technical infrastructure, aimed to support businesses, particularly SMEs, with cloud infrastructure and hosting solutions for big data processing.
  • Meeting with IBM on 11 Nov 2024, for discussing the opportunities for accelerating startups and supporting SMEs with HPC+ Technologies.
  • Three memorandums of cooperation between UNWE and business organizations (ThinkCyber Bulgaria, Axpo Group Bulgaria, Bank Association) were signed for joint research activities that could be related to digital transformation utilizing big data analytics, AI, and innovative HPC+ technologies, for implementation of research and practical projects, trainings, intern-ships, etc.
  • Collaboration workshop with SME representatives: Unlocking Business Potential with Parallel Processing: Accelerating Growth for SMEs”, 10 May 2024, UNWE. This workshop provided SME representatives with valuable insights into the advantages of parallel processing, showcasing how this technology can be leveraged to drive growth, enhance competitiveness, and streamline operations. Participants had the opportunity to learn from experts, participated in interactive demonstrations, and networked with peers who are exploring similar technological advancements. Individual consultations were provided to the interested companies –   Жакот ЕООД, Мизмо, Фронт – Консепт ЕООД, EXL, SDI брокер, EY Bulgaria, Eterra.
  • Collaboration workshop with SME representatives: “Harnessing Parallel Processing for SME Growth: Enhancing Efficiency and Competitiveness”, 10 May 2024, UNWE, This workshop aimed to equip SME representatives with a comprehensive understanding of the advantages of parallel processing and how it can be harnessed to drive business growth, boost competitiveness, and optimize operations. The session featured expert-led discussions, practical demonstrations, and networking opportunities with industry peers and professionals. Individual consultations were provided to the interested companies – DSC Gaming, Изи Асет Мениджмънт, Lufthansa Bulgaria, Crowe, Nailbars CND.
  • Conducted several meetings with 13 Mari Ltd. for discussing the possibilities for organizing the adaptation of algorithms for calculating the behavior and influence of improvements to the hull of marine vessels, optimizing fluid circulation (drag reduction) with the aim of fuel economy.
  • Organized meetings and discussions with representatives of MYX AD, a rapidly growing technology company, for provision of secure disk space for data storage and processing for digital counterparts of telecom operators’ infrastructure
  • Organized meetings and discussions with the management team of the software company Intelligent Voice Ltd., to define data processing models for recognition of machine generated voice, in non-mainstream languages
  • Organized meetings and discussions with the management team of the Bulgarian Air Traffic Services Authority (BULATSA), with the aim of defining data processing models and creating expert systems for forecasting atmospheric conditions affecting the operation of public economic systems – ports, cargo centers, integrated (intermodal) transport hubs.
